Carlisle, PA - Two Dickinson students--Jennie Bernstein (’06) and Kim Ogren (’08)--are building the capacity for Dickinson to produce and use biodiesel fuel for Facilities Management vehicles.
The students' work on the alternative fuel is sponsored by the Student Garden and Facilities Management. During the spring 2006 semester, Jennie and Kim are locating local sources for waste vegetable oil, creating small-scale test bathes to refine production methods, investigating safety practices, and learning from other biodiesel producers in the area. A summer intern with Facilities Management will be helping to design and construct a 50 gallon processor for biofuel production at Dickinson.
