As part of a week long series of events related to global warming education at Dickinson College the school will be participating in the nation wide event Focus the Nation on Thursday January 31st. Center for Sustainable Living (Treehouse)
to be LEED Certified in New Location

Carlisle, PA - Dickinson's Center for Sustainable Living (CFSL)--known on campus as the Treehouse--will be moving to a new facility before the Fall 2006 semester. Treehouse residents and college administrators are working with architects on the environmentally friendly remodeling design for a cluster of townhouses along Louther Street. The new facility will feature a biomass pellet stove, passive solar, and radiant floor heating in the common area.

The new Tree House will be one of the few LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver certified buildings at Dickinson.

Carlisle, PA - Two Dickinson students--Jennie Bernstein (’06) and Kim Ogren (’08)--are building the capacity for Dickinson to produce and use biodiesel fuel for Facilities Management vehicles.

Task Force Presents Findings to President Durden's Staff

Carlisle, PA - The Sustainability Task Force recommends a campus-wide energy audit, and adoption of more energy-efficient temperature standards for unoccupied rooms. These were just several of the 80 recommendations that the campus Task Force--appointed by President Durden last Fall--presented to the president's staff on November 1st. Read the full report here.
